Sharjah school decides to put parents back in the classroom with a workshop on how to use iPads. Parents are getting a perfunctory education in how to use the iPad as a learning tool and not just an entertainment device. Parents were put in the proverbial hot seat and taught how to use the different educational applications that are available for the iPad through the Apple store.
The goal of the program is to get parents in line with what kids are learning in the classroom and give them the tools necessary to continue the learning at home and outside of school. Coby Reynolds, the ICT staff at Sharjah, says that the workshops have been quite beneficial to all involved.
Digital learning began at the school in January of 2013, and so far, the program has been quite fruitful in meeting its goals, educating students and now grabbing the attention of parents and getting them involved in their children’s education through technology in the classroom. Most students are born into the technology of iPads, wireless networking, smartphones and the like. However, parents, generally, were not so technically experienced, so any education on the topic of technology is a plus for them and allows them opportunity to get in on the high tech world of education with iPads.
